Frequently Asked Questions

Which size kit is right for my caravan?

Choosing the right kit depends on your power consumption. Our200Ah Kit (2.56kWh)is perfect for weekenders running a fridge, lights, and water pump. The300Ah Kit (3.84kWh)suits those with longer trips or more devices like TVs and fans. For full-time off-grid living or powering high-consumption appliances like air conditioners or microwaves regularly, the400Ah Kit (5.12kWh)is the ideal choice. Check your appliance wattages and daily usage to calculate your needs.

Can I install the kit myself, or do I need an electrician?

While our kits are designed for straightforward installation by competent DIYers, we highly recommend that the final connection to your caravan's 12V and 230V systems, as well as the connection to your vehicle's alternator, be performed by a qualified auto-electrician. This ensures all safety standards are met, warranties are upheld, and the system is configured optimally.

What is the warranty on the kits and individual components?

Renogy products come with a comprehensive warranty. Please refer to the individual product pages on our website for specific warranty terms and conditions.

How long will the batteries last?

Our LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries are engineered for longevity. They are rated for over4000 cycles while maintaining 80% of their original capacity. With typical use, this translates to more than a decade of reliable service, far outperforming traditional AGM or lead-acid batteries.

Can I add more solar panels or batteries to the kit later?

Absolutely. Our systems are scalable. You can easily parallel more Renogy LiFePO4 batteries to increase capacity, provided you stay within the voltage limits (12V). The MPPT solar charger in our DC-DC unit can handle more solar input than the kit provides, allowing you to add more panels. Always check the maximum PV input voltage and current of your specific charger before expanding.

Will the DC-DC Charger work with my vehicle's Smart Alternator?

Yes. Our DC-DC Chargers with MPPT (30A, 40A, 50A) are specifically designed to work with modern vehicles equipped with smart alternators. They intelligently manage the charge profile to safely and efficiently charge your caravan's lithium batteries without damaging your vehicle's electrical system.

How does the Bluetooth Battery Monitor work?

The Renogy BT-2 Battery Monitor comes with a precision shunt that connects to your battery. It transmits real-time data—such as voltage, current, power consumption, and most importantly, State of Charge (SOC%)—directly to your smartphone via the free Renogy App. This allows you to monitor your system's health and manage your power usage from anywhere in your caravan.

Do the batteries have low-temperature protection?

Yes. All Renogy Core Mini LiFePO4 batteries feature built-inLow-Temperature Charging Protection. This critical safety function automatically disables charging if the battery temperature drops below -0.5°C (32°F), preventing damage to the cells. Discharging is still possible down to -20°C.

What can I power with the 2000W / 3000W Inverter?

  • 2000W Inverter: Ideal for common appliances like coffee makers, microwaves (check wattage), kettles, TVs, laptops, and CPAP machines. It can handle the startup surge of most small air conditioners (check locked rotor amps).
  • 3000W Inverter: Provides power for more demanding applications, such as larger microwaves, high-wattage kettles, hair dryers, and small power tools. It offers more headroom for simultaneously running multiple appliances.
