Key Features

  • Multi-Input Efficiency Charging

The Renogy DC-DC Battery Charger with unique dual charging options. This multi-stage, multi-input battery charger can charge the house battery from a starter battery linked to the car alternator or by utilizing solar panels connected directly to the unit. Both ways can be charged at the same time to minimize charging time. With up to 99% MPPT tracking efficiency and 94% convert efficiency, the charger can fully charge a 1kWh battery within 2 hrs with solar energy.

  • Ingenious Structure Ddesign

Removable side covers avoid contact between product terminals and the human body during transportation and daily use, which results in electrostatic damage, ensuring product stability and safety. The all-in-one NEG- terminal with partition design integrates the terminals for solar panels, the array starter battery, and the house battery, avoiding misconnection and making the simple installation.

  • Diversified Smart Monitoring

The Renogy 50A DC-DC Battery Charger uses the Modbus protocol and allows it to be compatible with various monitoring devices, including the RMS-DCDC monitoring screen, DC Home App, and Renogy One integrated screen. Managing and monitoring your energy easily and remotely in any scenario and situation.

  • Soft Start Circuit Design

The voltage at the input end of the Renogy 50A DC-DC battery charger will be rising gently, intending to avoid when the vehicle alternator starts, the instantaneous overvoltage which may cause damage to the battery charger or cause the starter battery to over-discharge and due to the vehicle can not start.

  • Comprehensive Security Assurance

The Renogy DC-DC Battery Charger is multi-certified to CE, FCC, and PoHs. This high-quality battery charger has multiple intelligent protections including battery isolation, over-voltage protection, battery temperature protection, over-current protection, overheat protection, reverse current protection, solar panel and alternator reverse polarity protection, guaranteeing charging safety and protecting your batteries.

Warranty Information

Accessories 2-year material warranty
1. What type of alternator is this on-board battery charger compatible with?

This battery charger is compatible with both traditional and smart alternators. However, since standard/traditional alternator has a fixed voltage when charging, while smart alternator has a controlled charging output based on operating conditions, it is required to connect the charger to the smart alternator through the Vehicle Ignition Port by the IGN Signal Wire comes with the package.
2. What will happen if the service battery is fully charged?

This Renogy's DC to DC MPPT on-board Battery Charger has a built-in Voltage Sensitive Relay (VSR), thanks to which the charger will Trickle Charge the service battery and maintain its fully charged status, and will also Trickle Charge the starting battery via solar panels. The VSR also ensures reliable isolation between the starting battery and service battery, avoiding charging interference.
3. What types of battery does the charger support?

This controller supports Gel, AGM, Flooded, and Lithium battery, but please make sure to set the correct battery type once it is installed. For battery settings please refer to the Manual Book on page 12&15.
4. How do I set the battery since there is no display screen?

To change the battery type you will need to press the push button that is located on the PV+ and ALT+ side of the DCDC, then continue to press the button and the LED will display different colors with each representing a single type of battery. Please refer to the manual on page 15 for Battery Type LED.
NOTES

1. Do not reverse the polarity since the reverse polarity of the battery connections can cause injury and damage to the device. 2. When connecting the charger and the battery, make sure the battery poles are clean when connecting the terminals, select a sufficient cross-section for the connection cable, tighten the nuts and bolts with proper torque as loose connections may cause overheating. 3. Be careful not to over-torque the terminals on the DCDC as over-torquing may cause irreparable damage (Do not exceed 16 N-m / 3.3 ft-lb). 4. Use the following cable colors: Red: positive connection Black: negative connection 5. If the battery charger is connected to the starting battery and solar panels at the same time, the maximum input current will be 15A for each; if the battery charger only connects one of the two DC inputs, the maximum input current will be 30A.
